Climate Change and Sustainable Development



The Climate Change and Sustainable Development Short Course is designed to deepen participants’ understanding of the challenges and opportunities posed by climate change, while exploring strategies that promote sustainable development. It equips learners with practical knowledge and tools to design, implement, and evaluate initiatives that balance environmental, social, and economic priorities.


This program is ideal for students, professionals, policymakers, and community leaders who are passionate about creating resilient societies and advancing sustainability goals. It reflects the Zambia Catholic University’s commitment to educating future leaders who can respond effectively to global environmental challenges while promoting social equity and economic growth.


The overall educational aims of the Climate Change and Sustainable Development Short Course in relation to Academia, Industry, and Societal needs are as follows:

  • To develop participants’ knowledge of climate science, adaptation, and mitigation strategies within the broader context of sustainable development.
  • To equip learners with skills to design and evaluate policies, projects, and practices that integrate environmental sustainability with economic and social objectives.
  • To foster critical thinking and problem-solving abilities that address local, national, and global sustainability challenges.
  • To instill values of stewardship, responsibility, and ethical decision-making in relation to climate action and sustainable development.

By completing the Climate Change and Sustainable Development Short Course, participants will be empowered to contribute meaningfully to environmental protection, policy formulation, and sustainable growth.
